The Garden Part 2
You will know them by their fruits” – Matthew 7:15–20
Jesus warns about false prophets and says you’ll recognize them by their fruits:
“A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.”
Fruit = the outward evidence (actions, words, impact) of the inward nature.
The Spiritual Connection:
Two kinds of seeds are being planted:
The Word of God, leading to life and fruitfulness (Parable of the Sower).
The word of the serpent, leading to death and corruption (Eden).
Both seeds produce fruit after their kind:
God’s Word brings love, righteousness, and obedience.
The enemy’s deception brings pride, sin, and self-dependence.
Why This Matters:
When Jesus says, “You will know them by their fruits,” He’s not just giving practical advice—He’s echoing the deeper truth of spiritual agriculture:
The fruit reveals the seed.
The seed reveals the source.
The source reveals the nature (God or deception).
Think about that with your own heart. What is your source‽
So, when you see someone’s “fruit” (behavior, impact, truthfulness), you can discern:
What seed they received.
Whether their heart was good soil or not.
Whether they live by the Word of God—or by something else (like the serpent’s lie).
Summary:
The parable of the sower shows how the seed of God’s Word must fall into hearts that are ready to receive it to bear good fruit.
The forbidden fruit in Eden represents the seed of deception that produced sin and death.
When Jesus says “you’ll know them by their fruits,”
He points back to both: the seed (word), the soil (heart), and the result (fruit).
This is how we discern truth from lies, and light from darkness.
This is the crazy part... proverbs 14:9 You will Never, I mean never come into the light unless 1.) God awakens you to see what seed you are planting.
God: Help me see things from your heart in every breath and every thought may I think of you first, forgive of my flesh Take control of the only member of body I can not control which is my tongue... Speak for me Lord. Let my thoughts be your thoughts, and allow your ways to become my ways! In the name of Jesus
