Dings Hurt

During our travels Jerry’s truck got dinged while towing the 5th wheel. Yes, it could’ve been worse and yes, it could’ve been less. Jerry perfectly took a turn, but the pavement was slightly sloped and the camper shifted forward.

Things like this happen. It’s not because God‘s hand is not fully covering. On the flip side it’s not because the enemy has wreaked havoc. Things happen.

The test is how do we respond when “things” happen? What “dings” are you tested with?

Those tests are good for our hearts. Because it forces us to see what do we put our value in. And then our responses reveal what is really in our heart.

Sure, responses of frustration, irritation, even anger are common. But they should never cause us to lash out and sin.

In Jerry’s case-he’s disappointed… But it’s a truck. So he had his moment of sadness and then moved on. He didn’t cuss or lash out. He just turned it back over to God, responding in boldness, knowing that God’s hand is still upon us-even when life dings.

Matthew 22: 37-38 says, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”

When these verses are our focus-facing life and all the dings are kept in perspective. Today may we love God with all we have and. It allow any circumstances to interfere with our passionate love for Him!
